The annual Portland Book Festival (formerly known as Wordstock) started at noon today, Thursday, November 5. Instead of being just one day at and near the Portland (Oregon) Art Museum, it’s online and more than 2 weeks long! So you have plenty of time to enjoy your love of books, authors, and writing. More than 100 writers are featured this year, and if you miss anything, you can watch it later. Watching live is better because you can join in the chat. The festival itself is free, but you do need to sign up. Three author events require buying the featured book from local bookstores. You can also take writing classes in a variety of genres and subject matters (most cost varying amounts of money, but financial help is available); some last just few hours, and others extend into several sections. The classes are offered from now through January, depending on your interest, but they may run out of “seats,” so it’s best to look them over and sign up now.
